Last Mile and La Soupe are Teaming Up

We're launching a smarter system to get rescued food from pickup to plate

We have exciting news!

Last Mile Food Rescue and La Soupe are teaming up to better serve the people of Greater Cincinnati and Northern Kentucky who don’t know where their next meal is coming from.

We're launching a better food rescue system that bridges two of the most innovative approaches to food insecurity, allowing each of us to lean into our core strengths. Last Mile will provide rescue services for La Soupe through our expert logistics and dispatch operation. This will allow La Soupe to focus on its primary and outstanding mission to transform rescued food into nutritious, delicious, and culturally vibrant meals.

What unites Last Mile and La Soupe is our shared belief that no surplus food should go to waste when there are people in our community who need it.

FAQs

What is this initiative?

Last Mile Food Rescue and La Soupe have developed a a smarter food rescue system to better serve people who don’t know where their next meal is coming from.

Last Mile will manage dispatch and food rescue coordination for La Soupe's culinary transformation, turning surplus food into meals that nourish the people who need it most.

Through this initiative -- first of its kind in the region -- we will streamline operations and increase efficiencies to better fight hunger in Greater Cincinnati and Northern Kentucky.

Is this a merger or acquisition?

No. Last Mile and La Soupe remain two fully independent nonprofits. Each organization will maintain our own leadership, staff, missions, and finances. This is a strategic initiative to build a stronger, more resilient infrastructure to address food insecurity across Greater Cincinnati and Northern Kentucky.

Who is funding this?

Greater Cincinnati Foundation’s Better Together Fund is generously supporting the launch of this iniative. The fund provides support for organizational operations, and to fuel collaboration, and build pathways to long-term sustainability.

Why are these two organizations partnering now?

Over the past several years, our organizations have been building a working relationship rooted in shared purpose. In 2025, Last Mile delivered 263 rescues to La Soupe, moving over 152,000 pounds of food directly to their kitchen.

We realize that our neighbors who are experiencing food insecurity don’t need overlapping efforts. They need organizations working collaboratively to move rescued food to a plate in front of them.

Will my volunteer experience be affected?

There will be some changes for those who have only volunteered for La Soupe. You’ll be guided by the staff you interact with at La Soupe and supported by Last Mile’s dispatch team. But the experience – and your impact – remain the same.

Will my food donation be affected?

Your giving experience is incredibly important to us. You may notice minor adjustments, but our core promise remains the same: your generous donations will always go directly to feeding our community.

Where does my financial donation go now?

While our two organizations are collaborating, we will remain financially separate. If you want to support this partnership, please donate to both organizations separately.
