Last Mile Food Rescue Responds to the Cyclospora Outbreak

Recently, concerns have been raised regarding the national Cyclospora outbreak connected to certain produce.

Because Taylor Farms is one of Last Mile Food Rescue's largest food donors, we want to share how we evaluate food safety and why we continue to responsibly accept donations from them.

Food safety is our highest priority.

Before continuing to accept donations, Last Mile confirmed:

• Taylor Farms is no longer accepting produce from the supplier connected to the outbreak
• Produce donated to Last Mile is not included in the recall
• Donations have gone through internal food safety protocols

Based on the information available to us, we believe these donations can continue to safely serve our community.

Is Last Mile distributing recalled food?

No. Last Mile does not knowingly distribute recalled food. We have confirmed with Taylor Farms that current donations are not recalled products.

Each nonprofit makes independent decisions about the food they accept based their owns own policies and community concerns.

Has Taylor Farms addressed the outbreak?

Taylor Farms has informed us that

• Last Mile did not receive any of the produce that was recalled and
• They are no longer receiving product from the supplier connected to the outbreak

How does Last Mile determine whether food is safe to distribute?

Our team works directly with food donors to understand sourcing, recalls, and product handling. We also monitor public food safety information and evaluate available facts before distributing donated products.

Could this change?

Yes. If new food safety information becomes available or recalls are issued affecting donated products, Last Mile will immediately reassess our distribution practices.
