Kroger Rescues

What to expect:

Kroger rescues require you to go into the store to rescue from each department. These rescues usually take 60-90 minutes to complete, require some mobility, and often require medium to heavy lifting. We recommend wearing closed toe shoes and bringing a sweater with you.

Refer closely to the app

Each Kroger store is set up a little differently. At some stores you will enter through the back docks and at others you will go through the front and grab a cart. There are instructions on BOTH the “traveling to donor” and the “arrived at donor” pages to walk you through the process. Be sure to read these carefully – sometimes they even include a map!

Department managers are your friends

If you’re having trouble finding the food that’s set aside for Last Mile, ask to speak to the department manager. Each department has a slightly different system for saving food & you’ll get the best help from someone who works in that department.

Quantities vary

Some stores require two rescues a day and others have just one scheduled. We adjust the schedule based on the average amount of food rescued. Be sure to read the instructions so you know if you’re the only rescuer or one of two. If you’re the only rescuer and you can’t fit it all in your car, just give us a call and we’ll schedule a “sweeper” run to pick up what’s left! 513-449-1698.
